PARAPETS are one of the collective protection systems par excellence.
They fit perfectly into the definition of
COLLECTIVE PROTECTIVE DEVICES
These types of devices are regulated by Legislative Decree
81/80 in articles 15, 75 and 111.
We can say that collective protection devices are nothing more than the set of all the measures taken
to protect workers against various risks, this
regardless of their equipment and behavior in the workplace. For example, thinking about the
risk of falling from a height, which can occur when working at height, think of fixed or temporary parapets,
scaffolding or safety nets.
The difference between PPE and DPC is that the former are tools designed to be worn by one person only.
worker for his health or safety, such as
example helmets, gloves, glasses, while the latter
they simultaneously offer protection to more workers from the same risks, furthermore the safety conditions
which collective protection devices guarantee are almost always superior to those
guaranteed by the use of personal protective equipment.
All DPC, collective protection devices are systems that, by reducing or eliminating the danger
at the source, they limit the risk of worker exposure and are classified into two main categories: those for localised prevention and safety
and those for prevention and general safety.
The advantages of collective protection devices
The main and fundamental advantage
of collective protection devices is the high degree
prevention and safety guaranteed to workers,
but these types of prevention and safety devices also have other advantages:
– there is almost never a need for specific training for workers in the use of PPE;
– in the long run they are economical because they last a long time.
